The Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics at UBC Sauder is pleased to host a talk on “Integrating ESG considerations in Portfolio Construction” by Hyewon Kong, CFA, on February 8, 2021.

Investors are increasingly aware of the risks and opportunities for their portfolios related to social, and governance (ESG) issues. They are looking for ways to both mitigate ESG risks and seize opportunities through their investment strategies. Hyewon Kong will discuss how investors can integrate ESG considerations in their portfolios.

Hyewon Kong, CFA, is the Vice President of Responsible Investing at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario. Since moving from the UK to Canada 5 years ago, Hyewon has been instrumental in creating broad collaborations in the Canadian financial industry to drive a sustainability agenda. While managing $600m impact investing strategies at AGF to help transition to a low-carbon sustainable economy, she co-founded the Toronto Responsible Investment Working Group to provide platforms for collaboration and engagement to address key environmental, social and governance issues. In the last two years, the Group nearly tripled to over 200 investment practitioners across more than 100 financial institutions collectively managing over $3 trillion in assets, and inspired investors globally to replicate her group in other cities.
